TSI/BC Insight Webinar: Use of Sulphuric Acid in Ore Leaching – Latest Developments and Trends
You are invited to participate in a webinar with Dr. Chris de Brey of TSI , who will present the outlook on current developments and trends in the ore leaching industry worldwide. He will also answer your questions about this important sector.
10:00 Washington DC, USA time; 15:00 in the U.K. and 16:00 in Continental Europe
Cost
USD $150
The use of sulphuric acid in ore leaching is still the fastest growing industrial use of sulphur and its compounds this decade, with growth expected to continue, despite recent downswings impacted by some global economic uncertainty.
Notes of Interest:
The technology of using sulphuric acid to leach non-ferrous metals from ores has been around for over 50 years.
Copper and nickel are the major metals using acid leaching.
Heap leaching is the predominant technology for copper recovery.
High pressure acid leach (HPAL) is the predominant system used for nickel leaching; heap leaching is being tested as high cost and technological issues affect some HPAL technology.
Uranium leaching is carried out via two major technologies: ore crushing and grinding followed by acid leach, and in situ leaching.
Zinc acid leaching is carried out at only one facility in the world.
The webinar will discuss in detail the expanding distribution of acid leach facilities worldwide, and some logistical challenges that facilities and projects will need to overcome to supply sulphur or sulphuric acid to their sites.
The webinar will provide an overview of sulphur consumption by major metals and projects, and the acid leaching trends for each metal.
